National Commission for Protection of Child Rights

The NCPCR ensures that all Laws, Policies, Programmes, and Administrative Mechanisms are in consonance with the Child Rights perspective as enshrined in the Constitution of India and also the UNCRC. It responds at the State, District and Block levels to touch every child to convey the ground experiences at the field to the authorities at the higher level. The Commission furthers the larger societal concern for children and their well-being.

Sarva Siksha Mission, Kolkata

Sarva Sikhsha Mission is a joint effort of central government as well as state government to implement Universalization of Elementary Education in a time bound manner. SSM mainly highlights the need of providing quality education to all children irrespective of their social, cultural, economic and educational status by 2012.

Kolkata – Dept. Of Social Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal

This department acts as nodal department for care, protection and development of women and children.

UNICEF

Unicef is one of the members of United Nations Development group. The largest UN organisation in the country,UNICEF is fully committed to working with the Government of India to ensure that each child born in this vast and complex country gets the best start in life, thrives and develops to his or her full potential.

Child Rights and You (CRY)

CRY is a national level organization. It works with a vision of a happy, healthy and creative child whose rights are protected and honoured in a society that is built on respect for dignity, justice and equity for all.

Garulia Municipality

Although Garulia Municipality, located on the eastern bank of the Hooghly river in the historically significant Barrackpore sub-division, has a literacy rate of 83.2% (2001 Census), unplanned development and a surge of migrants from rural areas forces more than 50% of the residents to live in slums.

Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Eastern Region

It comprises states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Odisha and West Bengal. CII is involving itself in not only facilitating the industries of the region but also in promoting social development with a focus on overall development.

GOAL – India 

GOAL is an international humanitarian agency dedicated to alleviating the suffering of the poorest of the poor. Its initiatives include a range of rural and urban relief, rehabilitation and development programmes with focuses on people’s participation. 

ActionAid – Kolkata Regional office

ActionAid has constantly working with poor and underprivileged people since 1972. It works in around 25 states and one Union territory and reaches out to nearly 8 million people.

Save the Children (SC)/ Baal Raksha Bharat, Kolkata

It is world’s leading independent organization for children that is working to inspire breakthroughs in the ways the world treats the children for bringing a positive and lasting change in their lives.

Landesa, Earlier known as Rural Development Institute, an American NGO

This NGO was established with the main objective of securing land rights for ensuring a better future for the poorest people.

Terre Des Hommes (TDH), Lausanne

Since its commencement, it has been working towards defending the rights of the children in times of natural disasters, war or situations of distress.

SPLASH

It is an American based international charitable organization. It works with a mission to provide clean water for kids.

AIWC ECC (All India Women’s Conference, East Calcutta Constituency), Kolkata

It is a voluntary organization whose main goal is to improve the quality of life of the women and children residing in slums of Kolkata and other areas.

Right Track, Kolkata

This community based organization was established in the year 1988 for social, educational, economical and cultural development of the disadvantaged section of the society.

Digambarpur Angikar Jana Kalyan Samity, South 24 Parganas

A organization with a rights-based philosophy, Digambarpur Angikar Jana Kalyan Samity works to develop communities in their project areas through [livelihood , health and education programmes].

Development Action Society, Kolkata

This community based NGO is mainly working on education based issues in South East Kolkata. Further, it is also working towards the eradication of poverty in some particular areas through supporting education of the first generation learners.

Nishtha, South 24 Parganas

This organization was established in the year 1975 with the objective of empowerment of poor women residing in rural areas of South 24 Parganas. It works on issues like health, nutrition, livelihood patterns, education and awareness generation among women of all ages.

Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA)

Society for Participatory Research in Asia is an international centre for learning as well as promotion of participation and democratic governance. Since its establishment, PRIA has embarked on initiatives mainly focussing on knowledge building, policy advocacy, capacity building, citizen centric development, etc.

Child Vikas International (CVI), an International Donor

CVI is Los Angeles based non-profit organization dedicated to child development projects in India. It was established with the objective of facilitating sustained physical, intellectual and emotional development of underprivileged children in developing countries of the world.
