Institutional Care has been a focal point of child protection mechanisms in India. Government has taken initiatives through various schemes, policies, and legislations to promote it on a right direction. Recently, Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) have formulated specific parameters for maintaining the government homes, including safe drinking water, Hygiene & sanitation of the inmates.
Community Action Society, in collaboration with SPLASH India & Government of West Bengal has started a project to install safe drinking water mechanism & promote appropriate hygiene practices among the inmates of 5 different Government Homes, which are as follows:-
1. SMM Home for the Girls, Liluah
2. Kishalay Home, Barasat
3. Uttarpara Home
4. Dhrubashram, Kamarhati
5. Sukanya Home, Kolkata
A preliminary feasibility study has been conducted in all these homes & accordingly intervention strategy will be formulated for improving the Water-Sanitation status of these homes.
