Studies

1. Conducted a study on “Livelihood Rights and Property Rights of Women” in Sunderban Region a project of ActionAid for Digambarpur Angikar, (NGO based in Sunderbans). Its main objective was to assess the status of women with special focus on the issue of livelihood and land rights.

2. Conducted and compiled a study on, “Children Engaged in Rag Picking in Dhapa area” for Development Action Society.

3. Conducted baseline evaluation of 6 NGOs in various parts of West Bengal on organization capacity, project update, and stakeholder relationship under the WBCSSP project (DFID supported) implemented by PRIA (Participatory Research in Asia).

4. Perception study on Corporal Punishment was done to find out the perceptions of different stake holders including students, teachers, guardians, police personnel and the CWC officials etc on corporal punishment in schools. The study had been done on about 200 samples and a consensus has been derived that a good percentage of them believe the necessity of giving punishment to children to make them disciplined. The study has been done with the support of Unicef in Kolkata, South and North 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal.

5. Conducted a study on, “Impact of Domestic Violence on Peace and the Prevalence of Disparity in Justice of the People Living along the Fringes of Kolkata” for Development Action Society

6. Understanding REFLECT work in West Bengal” across 7 districts covering 14 organizations in the state on behalf of ActionAid. REFLECT is an approach to learn and bring about social change for the marginalized people. The work has been done to empower mostly women to discuss and prioritize their own problems and collectivize to initiate action to sensitization workshops for bringing about a positive change in their own lives in addition to being empowered through literacy and information.

7. Conducted project reviews for NGOs on projects supported by Railway Children UK, GOAL and Water for People, Denver.

8. A Review of Alliance Building Process in West Bengal supported by ActionAid with an objective to analyze the process of formation of the community based groups and the motivation of the members in being part of it and to assess the extent of internalization of the purpose of the alliance (platform to raise voices to access their own rights) amongst the key stakeholders (alliance members, community at large and facilitating NGO).

9. A qualitative review of Water Sanitation Project in Sunderban area supported by: Sabuj Sangha, a NGO based in Sunderbans with an objective to assess the impact of the interventions of NGO in ensuring access to safe drinking water and sanitation facility based on stakeholder feedback and implementation framework.
